From Here to There: Alec Soth’s America

Last Friday I went to the Everson Museum of Art to see From Here to There: Alec Soth’s America. Above are some of my favorite sections of the exhibition. I have to say, I have recently flipped through Sleeping by the Mississippi and NIAGRA and seeing the prints in person is an entirely different experience than looking at the photobooks. The prints are beautiful. The photograph of the horse, Impala 2005, is my second favorite Alec Soth photograph.

After viewing the exhibition I went downstairs to the auditorium to attend a sold out lecture by the one and only Alec Soth. I will post about the lecture on Monday, it was incredible and brought up a lot of thought provoking questions. People are still talking about it!

Have you seen Alec Soth’s prints in person? Where? What did you think?

  1. I was lucky enough to take part in a guided visit of an exhibition of Alec Soth last year in Italy. The quality of the large prints, the choice of the subjects were really astonishing. And even more interesting the guide of the tour was Alec himself ! And of course the explanations he gave were super !
