I was so bummed when I read over on The Fox Is Black that the school board of Republic High School in Missouri has banned Kurt Vonnegut’s novel Slaughterhouse Five from the school. Seriously? This is still happening? I hate narrow minded people. Thankfully, I’m not the only one who feels this way and the Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library is giving a free copy of the book to each and every student who was effected by this asinine decision. On the library’s website they state, “We think it’s important for everyone to have their First Amendment rights. We’re not telling you to like the book… we just want you to read it and decide for yourself.” So, let’s help stop this nonsense. You can donate directly to the library and/or buy a print of the above poster from the super talented Frank Chimero which according to TFIB “will be donating 100% of the profits from the poster he created to the Memorial Library to be able to ship more books out.” So great.
Another way to help? Spread the word!
