MVWL – Shannon Rankin

January 21, 2011

Happy Friday!! Here is my biweekly addition to my viewing “wish list”. Enjoy!!

Shannon Rankin: Rankin is inspired by maps. On her website she states, “Maps inspire me. They are made of paper. They are beautifully detailed. They are so often ephemeral in both meaning and form. They are the everyday metaphors that speak to the fragile and transitory state of our lives and surroundings.” I love maps. I love paper. I love details. Gee, wonder why I am so drawn to Rankin’s work? I really enjoy her Polar Regions series. Be sure to check out her website to view more!

Have you seen any of Rankin’s work in person? What did you think?

my viewing “wish list” is a bi-weekly post where I share artists’ work I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see in person! Staring at a computer screen is just not the same.

NOTE: All of the images above are from the sourced websites. If any artists or galleries would like the images removed please do not hesitate to contact me directly (megan@megancharland.com) and I will remove them ASAP. Images are for educational use. Thank you.
